ASPCA's Adopt a Shelter Dog Month in October

ASPCA's Adopt a Shelter Dog Month in October

During the month of October, all of us at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital in Las Vegas, NV is proud to partner with the ASPCA in celebrating Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. During this month, veterinarian teams across the country are working to promote pet adoption as a better option than buying a pet. Your local shelter is the source for countless friendly pups, just waiting for someone to take them to their forever home.

Why is Pet Adoption So Important?

Millions of unwanted dogs end up in shelters every year, in all sizes and breeds. Shelters are at capacity in many parts of the country, which means they only give each animal a certain amount of time in their facility before putting it down. When you choose to adopt a shelter dog into your family, you're literally saving a life.

What Else Can I Do?

If you're not able to adopt a dog right now, you can still help spread the word to get other people aware of this celebration. Use your social media accounts to celebrate the month with adorable dog pictures and a message to adopt a dog in October. Contact your local shelter to see if they need volunteer help at adoption events. Donate to your local shelter. Create a fundraiser to help support the cause. Use your imagination to find other ways to get the word out and support shelter dog adoption.
